Remember Me?

Well, it has been a very l-o-n-g time since I've posted anything and I have been staying busy with all sorts of projects.

BIG MOVE

For those of you who don't know, I closed my Shakopee gallery last summer and downsized. A LOT. Remembering when I first moved into the quaint little storefront I was certain that I would never fill the entire space as it was huge. Well, I was wrong. When it came time to start packing things I was quickly overwhelmed. I just had so much stuff. Where did it all come from? Well, 22 years of teaching classes to students of all ages, from 6 years old up into their - ahem - 80's - garners a lot of supplies, furnishings, demo paintings, samples, books...and the list goes on. With the muscle help of my family I was able to move everything out on time, then had to sift through the aftermath. I still have boxes to sort and furniture to sell. And I miss my students!

Hats off to my friends and students who kept me going all these years! (Sorry I don't have pictures of each and every one of you...)

NEW STUDIO

On the heels of moving out of one studio, I moved into a working studio space on the 4th floor of an old warehouse on Harriet Island in St. Paul. I'm now officially a member of the OT Artists group. We are a juried group of 13 co-op artists who share a very large warehouse space in an old building on Water Street. It has taken me some time to adjust but I love the building, the people, and I feel like I'm doing some of my best work now that I have settled in. There are some big changes within the building also, as the owners are adding more artists studios on the third floor, and are hoping to turn our building into a destination for lovers of fine arts.

WEBSITE REVAMP:

I just updated my website. Have a look:  www.christinetierney.com

and I am also on Facebook and Instagram. Follow me to see my newest paintings.

This year is looking to be a very busy year for me with gallery shows and exhibitions. Here's a look at what's coming up:

THE LADY IN RED

The pastel painting shown is titled Lady in Red. During my travels to Europe last June I took lots of photos, and this is my own reference of an interesting lady perusing paperwork in a sidewalk cafe in France, painted in pastel. I am awaiting word on a "Valentine Red" painting competition I entered. Fingers crossed! Lady in Red, soft pastel, 12 x 9 inches, available.
